Pietro knocked twice on his uncle's door, was asked inside, and then stormed in, dragging Aedan O'Brien with him. The student's hands were still magically shackled behind his back, and he hadn't said a word on their journey to the Headmaster's office. He seemed to be going for the inscrutable and unafraid act.
That was fine. Pietro didn't want to listen to his whining.
The professor dragged the student to the chair his cousin had so recently occupied and thrust him down into it, not bothering to remove the spell that was binding his hands.
"Uncle," he growled, "I just found Mr. O'Brien attacking the Head Boy. He appeared to have caused grievous injury."

After cleaning up the mess that had been left in his office from the night before he was taking the rest of the day pretty easy, filling out paperwork that needed to be deal with and covering up a few things for the family business. He had just finished burning off a few documents when the door open and Pietro had brought in Aedan O'Brien. Enzo could't help the the smile that came to his face at the sight. Now what could the Heir to the O'Brien family have done to land himself here?
"Thank you Pietro." Attacking the head boy? Risky thing to do. From what he understood Theodor Keating was well liked enough by the student body despite some unsettling rumors about the boy sexuality. "Aedan what do you have to say for yourself?" He wanted to see what the boy had to say, he had never had the chance to talk to him one on one but from what he had seen from the boy he held so much promise. His father must be proud. Wonder what that's like.

As he struggled to keep his feet moving quickly enough to keep up with Professor Antonucchi, a strange feeling settled in the pit of Aedan's stomach. But it wasn't fear. It wasn't fear! He wasn't afraid; he couldn't be afraid. They weren't going to do anything to him - they couldn't. They had already attacked Maureen. They wouldn't ...
But his hands were bound and he couldn't break them free ...
No. It wasn't fear. It was anger. He could transmute it into anger. He had just been enraged and powerful, and he still was.
So when he was tossed down into the chair, he held his back straight and his head up high. He was not afraid. He was not afraid. They couldn't touch him. This was just a school punishment. This was no big problem.
He gazed ahead of him, meeting Enzo's eyes unflinchingly. His own were hard, unrelenting. He was clothed in arrogance and self-assurance, completely in control of himself. He was not afraid.
His voice was steady when he spoke. "Headmaster, I was provoked. I was calmly eating my breakfast when Mr. Keating approached and attempted to tell me how to behave in my relationship with his cousin. I informed him that I would not be taking orders from him, but he did not desist.
"Now, given the fact that Mr. Keating is no longer in my presence, I do not understand the purpose of my hands being bound."

Why was it that once you were over a certain age, things like this just seem so trivial? He really couldn't be bother to be upset with Aedan for not wanting to listen to Theodore advice when it came to treating his cousin. Should have Aedan attacked Theodore though? No the reaction seem done out of anger and hash without any regard for image at the moment, but he couldn't expect Aedan to be thinking about that. He was young and when you are young you just react and don't take the time to think. That will certainly come with age. Now should have Theodore kept his nose in his own business, yes. Should the boy also learn how to defend himself, yes he is a man after all. And despite some unsettling rumors about the boy and his sexaul perferance he was still a man and therefore should learn how to fight.
Aedan was right though, his hands didn't need to be tied up anymore so he waved his hand to free the boy before looking over at Pietro and saying. "That will be all Pietro." He waited for his Nephew to leave, until he head the soft click of the door before smiling some and saying. "Care for a drink Aedan? Seeing as I have the feeling we will be talking for a while."
'Let's see just how smart this boy is' Enzo thought to himself as he stood up and eyed the boy. "And you can tell me all about why you thought attacking Mr Keating was the better option that walking away."

The bonds around his wrists dissolved, and Aedan immediately pulled his hands forward to fold them in his lap. He didn't bother to look as he heard Pietro make his exit. After all, Enzo was the boss. He was the one to be watched. There was, of course, an agenda here; there was always an agenda ... but what was it? To feel him out, Aedan supposed. To gain a deeper understanding of the enemy.
Two could play that game.
Well, should he take the drink or shouldn't he? What was the right answer in this situation? It was frustrating. Most people had tells, signals that Aedan could pick up on. Even Pietro had tells, but Enzo? He was a closed book. Stonier even than Aedan himself. He was giving away nothing: not in his eyes, not in his hands, not in his body language as he stood up. They were too similar, really. It was difficult to get any sort of a read on him.
It made him even more dangerous.
Aedan kept himself firmly wrapped up in his cloak of certainty. They had struck, and his family had yet to strike back. There were rules of honor at play here, honor above all else. Certainly there would be times for him to suspect a drink offered by his enemy, but not today.
"Yes, Headmaster. I would." Had he just damned himself with those four words? That remained to be seen.
"Mr. Keating had ample opportunity to cease his meddling, and yet he continued to press. Had I merely walked away, he would have renewed his efforts at the next opportunity, like a gadfly at a horse's flank. I preferred to solve the problem, rather than to extend its duration."

"Wrong." Enzo said sternly looking over at the boy. Well maybe cormac didn't train him as well as he thought. Though he supposed this was a tricky first test. If he didn't accept the drink it could be seen as rude, but at the end of the day the boy was putting his life on the line but saying yes to it. "You never accept a drink from your enemy Aedan. Even if they are not planning on pulling anything underhanded you never know." Or perhaps he wasn't giving enough of a tell for the young man to pick up on. Enzo knew he was stone faced at all times, something that only came with year after year of doing the same song and dance. He should be too hard on the boy for fucking up this test, it was a hard one.
However as he poured himself a glass of whiskey and listen to his answer about Theodor Enzo was more pleased. "Correct." He said with a smile as he sat back down and took a long drink. "You never leave a fire burning, always make sure you stamp it out right away. If you don't it will start up again and I think you properly stamped out that fire and it will not come back for a long time."
So he was one for one, not back so far. Boy was doing well, better than most who probably would have failed both. "Tell me Aedan. Was it worth risking the upper hand you have in the school right now? Theodore is popular and well liked despite rumors and right now your family is casted in a more favourable light." Though that probably will not last for long he knew Cormac would want to relatie soon and he was ready for it. After all he had the long term in mind. So let the O'Brien's take their shot at his family, he had bigger plans at the end of the day.

Fuck. Wrong answer. He'd over-rationalized. The Headmaster poured a drink for himself, then looked again at Aedan while informing him that his second answer had been correct. This whole conversation was ... strange. Inscrutable. Why was the enemy Don giving him guidance this way? What was he playing at? It was difficult to shake Aedan, but this meeting was beginning to feel more and more uncomfortable.
The questions just grew increasingly unsettling. How was he supposed to respond to this without making Enzo supremely angry? Oh, God, he wanted to leave this office right now, but he couldn't. He had to answer, and he had to answer honestly, and everything about it was nerve-wracking.
Still staring unflinchingly into the Headmaster's eyes, Aedan responded, weighing his words carefully before setting them free. "The way I see it, Headmaster, there is little I could do at this point in time to cast myself in an unfavorable light. After all, I am still no Antonucchi."
The slightest hint of panic started rushing through his veins, but Aedan hid it. What would happen would happen, and he would deal with what came along.
